What is nanotechnology and nanostructured coating?
Nanotechnology is the understanding and control of matter at dimensions between 1 and 100 nanometres (nm) and the structural elements of nanostructured materials have dimensions in the range of 1 to 100 nanometres (nm). A nanometer is one-billionth of a metre and a sheet of paper is about 100,000 nanometres thick.
Nanotechnology is used in the manufacture of strong lightweight materials for many applications including boat hulls, sporting equipment, automotive parts, pharmaceutical and optical products.
Opticians apply nanocoatings to eyeglasses to make them easier to keep clean and harder to scratch.
The oleophobic coating applied to all VMAX Screen Shield tempered glass screen protectors is created using nanotechnology.
